The Cowboy and Hobo Show featuring Cactus Willie, Boxcar Bob and The Drifter.

The music is acoustical with vocal leads and harmonies.  It is a combination of Country, Folk, Bluegrass & Lite Rock n' Roll. The sound is a wonderful blending of all those styles. Very similar to the Kingston Trio and acoustic folk groups of the 1950's and  1960's. Songs you will remember and a stage presence that is truly professional.

Live performances are full of energy, humor and wonderful vocals.

The Freddie and Sheila Show

With Special Guest, Clint Pelletier

Freddie, Sheila and Clint Pelletier are a unique family trio who perform bluegrass, classic country, gospel and a variety of guitar instrumentals, Chet Atkins style fingerpickin and vocal tunes. Sheila will even do a little yodeling. They entertain in a stage show setting with their vintage “Sears and Roebuck” guitars. From Saskatchewan, Canada, this family makes their living performing. Freddie spent time in Nashville where he played guitar for Ferlin Husky and Billy Grammar, just to name a couple, and also toured with Canadian singer-songwriter, Ian Tyson (writer of the Carter Family’s ’Four Strong Winds’). Clint, now living in Edmonton, Alberta, has performed with music and dance troupe ’Barrage’ that toured across North America with more than 300 dates per year. In addition to performing with his family, he owns and operates a recording studio called ’Reel Time’ Studios and heads a jazz group called Eclectrip that emulates the work of 1930’s guitarist, Django Rheinhart. S heila keeps them all busy managing the family’s dates as well as the Pelletier Guitar and Music Camp that they run for three weeks each summer. They have performed in RV Resorts in AZ and CA for eight winters and are thrilled to return to the RGV for their third year. They’ll be happy to meet and chat with everyone at the Winter Texan Expo on Jan. 14th. Check out their website:

The Raymers are a husband wife duet from Raytown, Missouri.  He has been referred to as,“the Norman Rockwell of music.”  This comparison appeals to Ron Raymer because he also is an artist, having retired from a 37-year career at Hallmark Cards.   Ron is a prolific songwriter and his songs seem to paint word pictures as they take the listener back to another time when life and times were simple and fun.  Following one of their performances it is not unusual to hear such comments as, “I haven’t laughed this much for ages!”  Or “I remember all the things they sang about; we had so much fun.” Ron plays the guitar and sings lead while Arrena plays the upright bass and adds harmony.  The tidbits that Ron shares between the songs concerning the inspiration add to the humor and interest of the program.

The Long Ago Stringband was formed several years ago in South Texas.  As our name suggests we play olde-tyme music on many types of stringed instruments.  Examples are mountain dulcimer, autoharps, dulci-jo,  (dulcimer that sounds like an olde-tyme banjo), guitar, harmonicas, concertina, accordion, and mandolin.  We also do close harmony vocals. Our performance consists of a lively and fun filled event of olde-tyme satisfying music and comedy featuring folk, Irish,  mountain,  and gospel acoustic music.

 Whitfords

The Whitfords perform vintage country music, covering a wide range of American rural styles.  They will take you back to a time when the music we listened to came from our kitchens and living rooms, churches and dance halls, as well as from our radios.   Most of our music was self-made, when life was simpler and more genuine.   With their dazzling instrumental work and tight vocal harmonies, you will find your feet tapping, your emotions flowing and you may just find yourself singing along!
